Goa filmfest to host 'Dream of Sohrab'

Iranian biopic 'Dream of Sohrab' has made its way into the International Film Festival of India, Goa.

Iranian biopic 'Dream of Sohrab' has made its way into the International Film Festival of India, Goa.

Directed by Iranian children’s filmmaker Jalal Fatemi, the film will compete with 13 other films from around the world for awards at various sections of the event.

'The Dogs Didn't Sleep Last Night' directed by Ramin Rasouli is also to represent Iran at this year’s edition of the festival.

'Dream of Sohrab' is the name of the biographical film that will dramatize life story of the leading Persian modern poet and painter.

Notable among the cast are Mehdi Soltani, Bahareh Kian-Afshar, Laleh Eskandari, Tarlan Parvaneh and Abolfazl Miri.

Ali Qavitan has also appeared as the role of Sohrab in his feature film.

Sepehri, who is a famous Iranian poet in modern poetry, departed this life in 1980.

His works have been translated into many languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swedish, Arabic, Turkish and Russian.

Launched in 1952, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.

The festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendship and cooperation among people of the world.

The 51st edition of the event is slated for January 16-24, 2021.
